What is an infusion

It is the process of extracting chemical compounds or flavours from a plant by using a liquid as the capturing medium.

Liquids are water, oil or alcohol and these mediums allow the captured plant material to remain suspended in the liquid.

This process is also called steeping.

The liquid that results after this process is also known as an infusion.

Infusion does not include boiling the plant material or passing water through a material, such as percolation.
